Hello!
This week I am coming to you from the Gateway to the Great Barrier Reef… none other than Airlie Beach!
For those of you who are not familiar with this special touch of paradise, you can find it by driving 1200 kms (745 miles) north from Brisbane, or better still, you can hop on a plane in Brisbane and be sitting on a sunny sandy shore within two hours.
Airlie is famous for its beautiful silica sand beaches and sparkling azure sea and is the jumping off point for the Great Barrier Reef and The Whitsunday Islands.
If you are a little curious and would love to know all things Airlie Beach, you will find lots of information here and here.
I am in Airlie Beach visiting family, and I must admit that Airlie feels like a second home. Of course, my beautiful family are here which is the biggest draw card but also, I love the huge skies, the verdant mountains, the lush cane fields and laissez faire vibe.
The people are warm and friendly and time ticks by just that little bit slower, pure medicine for the soul!
Do you have favourite holiday destinations that feel like home?
I thought you might enjoy a few snaps that well, to be honest, do not do justice to the natural beauty that is Airlie Beach, but will give you a bit of an idea of nature’s handiwork in this corner of the world.
Nature Notes
Friday 15th September -highlights from Airlie Beach
Temperature from 15C to 25C with a very cool breeze. 61% humidity. Birds so much quieter in this little patch of hinterland, no crazy cockerel or cackling Kookaburras heralding the dawn (though the Kookaburras did turn up later in the day). Rainbow Lorikeets, Brush Turkeys, Torresian Crows, Swallows and Mynas so far. As I sit here on the deck and write these notes, I have to share that I just witnessed a very cuddly Kookaburra swoop down at such a speed and grab a wee lizard up off the deck in one fowl swoop! Incredible to watch at such a close proximity and sadly too fast for me to have time to capture on my camera. Sunrise 0600 Sunset 1800. the Moon is New in Virgo today.
Forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair. - Khalil Gibran
That’s it from me this week.
Until next time
Bright blessings

What a lovely read. It sounds like the most beautiful place & your pics help add to my vision of it.
I didn’t realise how big QLD was until my boy was posted to Townsville & I looked up the distance from Brisbane. What a huge state!!
